MLC Research Fellow Ingrid E. Mida celebrated the publication of Reading Fashion in Art, a richly illustrated, multidisciplinary study on the importance of dress and fashion in critically analyzing visual art. The event included a brief talk by the author and Q&A and remarks by international experts in the field of fashion and art including:
Frances Arnold, Editorial Director of Visual Arts, Bloomsbury
Sarah Casey, Artist and Senior Lecturer, Drawing and Installation, Lancaster University
Justine De Young, Assistant Professor and Chair, History of Art, State University of New York
Adam Levine, Assistant Curator, European Art, Art Gallery of Ontario
Rainer Wenrich, Professor, Art Education and Fashion Studies, Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt
The event was moderated by Irene Gammel with Jason Wang. It was supported by the MLC Team including Cameron MacDonald, who administered the book prize, and Priyana Govindarajah who assisted with technology.
Alden O’Brien, Curator of Costumes and Textiles of the American Revolution Museum in Washington D.C., was the winner of the book prize.
