Dear MLC Team and Open House Participants,
Thank you for making our MLC Open House a terrific success. You are an AWESOME team.
We had a great turn out and excellent energy, and many visitors told me how much they enjoyed the tours and appreciated delving into the research and creative projects. I know you went out of your way to make everything look great, and introduce our visitors to the vibrant world of ideas that we represent and celebrate on a daily basis.
I am extremely grateful to the research in action installations provided by Stephen Broomer, Dan Browne, Emma Doran, Dr. Esther Berry, Sydney Dale-McGrath, Alanna McKnight, Badri Murali, Dr. Barbara Postema, Sydney Tyber, and Danielle Van Wagner. Your ambition and high quality presentations will resonate for weeks and months to come.
I want to thank each and every one of you, but especially the following who helped with the organization and planning from beginning to end: Emma Renda, Catherine Russell, Dr. Esther Berry, Jason Wang, and Megan Stulberg. Thank you so much for putting your heart and soul and muscle into this event! Your dedication really showed.
Special thanks go to our generous and professional MLC helpers without whom we could not have run this event: Lu Argirov, Jacklyn Carmen, Chelsea Miya, Chelsea Olsen, Quintin Peirce, Amy Smith and Cat Waszczuk. Thank you for your generous support.
Thank you to our MLC Research Associates including Dr. Julia Fawcett and Dr. Rahul Sapra, who came out to support the event. A special thank you to MLC Research Associate Dr. Karen Mulhallen, whose recent donations were featured at the Open House (one piece seen on the left in the photo below).
Thank you to Dr. Paul Moore, Communication and Culture; Dr. Sophie Thomas, Literatures of Modernity; as well as my colleagues in the English Department and the Arts and Contemporary Studies Program and History Department for taking the time from your busy schedule to join us. Thank you also to Ryerson International Student Services for engaging the Open House.
And last but not least, thank you to all our guests, who engaged with the installations and the students and postdoctoral fellows; and special thanks to our guests from the dean's office and VPRI's office, who took the time to come out and meet the students including Dr. Jean Paul Boudreau, dean of arts; Dr. Janet Lum, associate dean of arts; Dr. Paule Laberge, Research Administrator, Office of the VPRI; and Dr. Greg Singer, Director of Research Grants, Office of the VPRI. Finally, thank you to Campus Facilities for finishing the renovations at 111 Gerrard Street on time for our Open House (including interior work and exterior work on stucco walls and masonry stone).
We hope to see you again at our upcoming events. In the meantime, we also look forward to supporting your initiatives in any way we can.
Warm wishes,
Irene.
