Mary Fantaske's research program explores the connections between ecofeminism, vegetarianism, and disability rights theory. Supported by a SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship, and supervised by Dr. Gammel, Mary's Master's research paper focuses on the experiences of women and persons with disabilities and their intersections with vegetarian "speciesist" theory. Issues of dehumanization, objectification, and discrimination are central to the discussion of what she terms, "commonalities of oppressions" between women, the disabled, and nonhuman persons. Mary holds an Honours BA in Sociology (2012) from Ryerson University.
