Melanie Hamilton holds an a BA (Hons.) in History and a B.Ed., both from Queen’s University, and an MA in History of Education from the University of Toronto (2009). Melanie’s thesis investigated the public-educational roles played by art, travel, music, and pageantry during Canada’s Centennial celebrations of 1967. At the MLC Research Centre, Melanie supports the archival and collections management team with their physical and digital archiving. She also works as a historical researcher on the life of a Canadian World War I painter. Specializing in Toronto's heritage and culture, Melanie is pursuing a career in the cultural and heritage education sector, and she is interested in exploring different platforms for public history education.
