Nick Vani is an undergraduate student in the Arts and Contemporary Studies program, majoring in History (2010-2014). As an MLC Research Team member under the supervision of Dr. Irene Gammel, Nick explores Canadian war artist Mary Riter Hamilton and post-war battlefield culture in Europe. His research interests include Canadian and American histories with particular focus on the First and Second World Wars. His undergraduate thesis, "The Toronto Liberal Press and the Issue of Conscription during the First World War," examined local press influence on the 1917 Canadian Federal Election and on the mobilization of Canadian armed forces. At the MLC Nick hopes to hone his skills with the goal to pursue graduate studies.
