Modern Literature & Culture Research Centre & Gallery

At the MLC Research Centre, Renée LeBlanc Proctor provides administration, event, and grant support for the Director Dr. Irene Gammel and her team with the goal to achieve excellence in research and training in modern literature, arts, and culture. She is passionate about promoting interdisciplinary humanities education, creative collaborations, and empowerment through research and research creation. Renée’s experiences include event and project management, academic writing consultation, and multimedia communications work. Born and raised in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Renée brings her East Coast solution-oriented spirit to the coordinator role. She holds an MA in Communication and Culture (2021) from the Ryerson/York joint program, as well as a BA with Honours in English and a Minor in Political Science from St. Francis Xavier University (2019). Renée is thrilled to work at the MLC helping to make its research on the diversity of modern Canadian heritage accessible to an even wider public audience.
