It gives me great pleasure to announce that Stephen Voyce, currently at York University, will be joining us next year as an SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the MLCRC. Working under Irene Gammel's direction, he will be embarking on a study entitled Open Source: Appropriation as Creative Practice in Late-Twentieth-Century Poetry in North America, which will explore the trajectory from early avant-garde poetics to contemporary poetics. Stephen's scholarship has appeared in prestigious journals including Postmodern Culture, Open Letter, and DQR Studies in Literature. His most recent article 'Make the World Your Salon: Poetry and Community at the Arensberg Apartment', published last year in Modernism/Modernity (Johns Hopkins UP), grew out of the graduate course Modernist Literary Salons: A Cultural Approach, which he took with Irene Gammel. Stephen is the recipient of SSHRC doctoral scholarships, the Susan Mann President's Scholarship, and a York University Teaching Assistant Award. I'm sure you will all join me in welcoming Stephen, who is excited to be joining us.
