Dr. Doran is a proud MLC Alumna and no longer with the Centre.

Dr. Emma Doran specializes on performance studies, modern dance studies, media ecology, and phenomenology. She holds a BA in Dance Performance, an MA in Dance (York University), and a PhD in Communication and Culture (Ryerson University). Entitled "‘Feeling’ in Modern Dance Print Media: Loïe Fuller, Isadora Duncan, and Maud Allan,” her doctoral dissertation was supervised by Dr. Irene Gammel, with Dr. Carol Simpson Stern at Northwestern University serving as the external examiner. Following her doctoral studies, Dr. Doran accepted a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the MLC Research Centre, preparing several scholarly articles for publications (listed below), under the mentorship of Dr. Gammel. In 2017, Dr. Doran accepted a position as editor for Dance Current: Canada’s Dance Magazine. Her experiences also include her long-time position as archival associate for Dance Collection Danse in Toronto.
