Victoria Hetherington
Victoria is a proud MLC Alumna and no longer with the Centre.
A Master’s student in the Communication and Culture Programme at Ryerson University (2014-2016), Victoria Hetherington specializes on issues of gender and social media. Supervised by Dr. Irene Gammel, her Master’s thesis, “Memory, Personal Trauma, and Social Media: Writing the Cyber-Body," uses Twitter fiction to explore digital sociality, and the interaction of human and binary memory in the context of digital media platforms. Victoria Hetherington holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Women’s studies from the University of Toronto (2013). Her undergraduate thesis, titled “You Hear Funny Things,” was awarded a Writer’s Works in Progress Grant from the Ontario Arts Council (2013). Her first novel, “I Have To Tell You,” was published by 0s&1s in 2014, and was widely reviewed and mentioned including in The Guardian, Publisher’s Weekly, The LA Review of Books, Ploughshares, and HTMLGiant.
